FAQ's
What are your qualifications as a Civil Marriage Celebrant?
I am an accredited Celebrant, registered with the Attorney General’s Department. I completed my training and various statements of attainment with the Academy of Celebrancy. I am a member of the Australian Marriage Celebrants Incorporated. I am also a Manager in Higher Education and have many years experience in administration and event management.
Where do you travel to?
Nowhere is too far. I will travel to anywhere in the Sydney Metropolitan area and as far north as Gosford and as far south as Wollongong. Anything outside of these areas an additional traveling fee would be charged.
Do we have to meet with you before the ceremony?
I recommend that you do:
- We can discuss the type of ceremony that you would like and we can work together to plan your ceremony requirements.
- I feel that face to face is gives a more personal touch to your ceremony.
What happens when we decide to use your services as our Celebrant?
Once you have decided you would like to meet me, we'll arrange a suitably agreeable time for all of us. I’ll meet with you both and go through various options for your service and discuss with you your requirements for your wedding day. At our meeting you are able to view and discuss my services and get further information on what I can provide you with. Once you decide to secure your booking with the deposit you will ge provided with folders containing a large selection of introductions, vows, readings, askings, closings, rituals etc., everything that is required for a ceremony. You may mix and match sections of various services, vows, readings until you are entirely happy with your choice. These folders with the ceremony sections will be available to you both as a loan so that you can make your choices. Personalising your marriage is also a lovely inclusion to your ceremony and this could be done once you have given me your initial selection.
Once you engage my services a deposit of $250 is required to secure your booking. This can be paid by cheque, Mastercard or Visa.
You will require another meeting to finalise your requirements and I am happy to meet with you as many times as you like. We normally keep in touch via email and ceremony drafts are forwarded to you this way. If you are not computer savy we will make alternative arrangements for you.
Do we have a choice with the ceremony wording?
Yes this is your day and you can include or take out anything from a ceremony or you can write your own wording. You must leave in the legal wording.
Can we contact you for advice or information?
Certainly, I will be more than happy to assist you whenever possible. You can either phone or email me.
Do we need a rehearsal?
Approximately two weeks prior to your wedding I strongly suggest a rehearsal. This can be either at the ceremony venue, at your home or at my home. Having a rehearsal is entirely up to you however a rehearsal makes you feel more at ease knowing how your ceremony will run. The bridal party are filled in on their role and where they will be standing. I will check your music and setup and guide you through the service without giving away too much information of what your ceremony will be like.
How long should our ceremony run for?
My recommendation is 20 minutes. You may find that anything under 20 minutes is too short. Of course the length of your service is your decision.
Do we need to supply anything on the day?
No you have enough to organise just to get yourselves ready. If you have any ritualistic inclusions that you are providing I suggest you give these to a friend or family member to bring along so they don’t get left behind, or give them to me prior to your wedding day. We can discuss this further at our meeting.
Do we have to pay for your PA system?
No this is supplied as an inclusion.
Do we need to pay you to play music?
No this is also supplied as an inclusion however, I would need to receive the music four weeks prior to the wedding day so that I can ensure that your CD works and that the music fits well into your ceremony.
What should we do first?
You should have a date and a backup date organised, check the availability of your venue and also have a backup plan if your ceremony will be held outdoors. Once you have organised this fill in the contact section on my website or call me to arrange a meeting.
What should we know before we meet?
You should know the price of the ceremony. I will advise you on this once we meet. You should read the Legal requirements section of this site. This will also advise you on what to bring with you to our meeting. It is wise to bring all the documents with you even if you have not made up your mind which celebrant you would like. If you decide on the day, to choose my services the next meeting would normally be the ceremony meeting where both of you and myself work on your ceremony choices.
